How ToolHund works
A plain description of what we check, what we automate, what costs money and what we can't promise.
Sources and check dates
Tool records come from vendors' public pages and our own editing. Where a price was checked automatically, we show the date of the last successful check. Records without a recent check may be out of date — confirm on the vendor's site before buying.
Manual vs automated
Descriptions, best-for notes and alternatives are edited manually. Price checks on vendors' public pricing pages are automated, and only verified numeric changes are reported as price changes. Not every tool is hands-on tested.
Catalog size is not price coverage
The catalog lists many more tools than have a recent verified price. See the current numbers on the live coverage panel rather than trusting a fixed figure.
What's free and what's paid
Browsing, comparisons, the Matchmaker and API previews are free. Structured API responses (pricing events, decisions, Video Research) are paid with credits.
- API pack: $5 one-time for 1,000 credits — not a subscription. Most requests use 1 credit; a Video Research answer uses 10.
- Monthly API plans are a separate, recurring product, labeled as such on API pricing.
- Requests that fail validation or return no data are free; errors are reported as errors, not charged.
Payments and delivery
Card payments are processed by Stripe; ToolHund does not see or store card numbers. After a person completes checkout, ToolHund delivers an API key, and their agents send it as a Bearer token. Stripe handles the payment; ToolHund is responsible for delivering the key and the API service.
Sponsorship and affiliate links
Sponsored placements are labeled "Sponsored" or "Featured" and buy placement only — never a higher score, a changed ranking, or guaranteed traffic. Some outbound links are affiliate links. Details in the disclosure.
Limitations
- The catalog does not cover the whole market.
- Prices are not real-time; vendors can change them at any time.
- Rankings and the ToolHund Score are rule-based fit estimates, not benchmarks. See the methodology.
- Claims made inside tools, videos or vendor pages are not independently verified.
